The General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC)/Miosac Club met at Thayer Parkway Nov. 5 for a whirlwind tour of Italy. President Suzanne Raymond called the meeting to order and Betsey Ryan led the Club Collect, American's Creed and Pledge of Allegiance.

On Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 1 p.m. at The Commons at Central Hall, “Unraveling Negative Thoughts for a Brighter Future” will be examined through video presentation followed by discussion.

Growing Through Grief is one of Pine Tree Hospice’s bereavement programs for adults. The Growing Through Grief program begins with a facilitated grief support group which is then followed by a presentation or workshop.

Every Veterans Day, the Three Rivers Kiwanis of Milo-Brownville serves dinner to all local veterans and their families. This year the meal will be held on Monday, Nov. 11 at the Milo Town Hall.

On Sunday, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. there will be a Wassabec Genealogy Society meeting at Mayo Regional Hospital in the conference room. The meetings are open to the public and the organization welcomes beginning genealogists to the most experienced.

The Dover Low Vision Group will meet at the Thayer Parkway Community Room, 33 Thayer Parkway from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 1. The guest will be Aisha Hixon from The Iris Network to talk about cooking aids for a visually impaired cook.

Dover-Foxcroft Kiwanis Charities held the annual fall dinner for Thayer Parkway residents on October 17. Over 50 residents and members were served a smorgasbord of chicken, tuna, taco, mac ‘n cheese, ham and casseroles as well as salads, maple baked beans and hot dogs, fall desserts, cider and coffee.

Girl Scouts of Maine announces that it will host a new member sign-up event for potential members and volunteers at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29 at the Milo Elementary School.

The Tisbury Manor Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution welcomed a new member at the October meeting. Dorinda Galbraith joined by proving her lineage to Revolutionary War patriot John Nims, from Massachusetts, who was a private in the Hampshire County militia in 1777.

In a recent ceremony and reception held at the Abbot Town Hall, Selectman Mickey Knowles presented Abbot’s Boston Post Cane to nonagenarian Thelma Weymouth.

Staff at the Hibbard Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dover-Foxcroft want to wish one of their assisted living residents a very happy 100th birthday. Earl Chase was born in Augusta, on October 18, 1919.

On Thursday, October 10 at the first Tea Talk meeting, Shirley Grant won a beautiful fresh flower arrangement, contributed by the Spring Street Greenhouse, for correctly answering the most Dexter trivia questions.

The Savvy caregiver program will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the Thompson Free Library on October 31, November 7, 14 and 21 and December 5 and 12.
