Postseason honors for FA soccer players

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Foxcroft Academy boys soccer team finished the season with a 6-8-2 record. The Ponies advanced to the playoffs, winning a Class B North prelim game at No. 5 Ellsworth, 2-1, after two overtimes and three rounds of penalty kicks. Foxcroft lost at fourth-seeded Presque Isle in the quarterfinals, 2-1.

Team captain and keeper senior Logan Butera was selected for the Penobscot Valley Conference (PVC) First Team and Class B North all-region team. Midfielder and captain junior Levi Stedman was named to the PVC Second Team and all-region team. Chosen for the PVC All-Academic Team was senior keeper Andrew Miles and senior forward captain Chandler Rockwell.

Butera played in the 22nd annual Maine Soccer Coaches Senior Bowl on Nov. 13 at Husson University in Bangor.  The top senior soccer players from the north and south regions battled it out on the field. The South defeated the North, 9-5.

“This is such a great honor for one of our players to get a chance to participate in such a great event,” Foxcroft head coach Luis Ayala said. “Logan has worked hard for this moment and he deserves it.”

Stedman and Butera will attend the Maine Soccer Coaches banquet on Sunday, Dec. 4 in Bangor. At this event the organization will select the All-State Team, the All-New England Team, the All-American Team, Class Players of the Years and Coaches of the Year.
