Trio of Pony alums continue their track careers in college
Three former Foxcroft Academy track stars competed for their college teams at the respective postseason meets.
Bates College senior Graham Pearsall, a 2009 Foxcroft Academy graduate and Parkman resident, finished third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9 minutes, 36.60 seconds at the State of Maine Championship April 20 in Lewiston. Pearsall and his Bobcat teammates won the state title, finishing first out of five schools with a score of 263 points.
On April 27 Pearsall finished eighth in the steeplechase at the NESCAC championship in Medford, Mass. with a time of 9:35.56. Bates finished in second place out of 11 schools, with the Bobcats’ 166 points trailing only the 213 accumulated by host Tufts University.
University of Southern Maine sophomore Emily Panciera, a 2011 Foxcroft Academy graduate and resident of Monson, and freshman Chelsea Oldfield, a 2012 graduate and Dover-Foxcroft resident, helped the Huskies capture the program’s 14th consecutive Little East Conference title on April 27 in Bridgewater, Mass.
In individual competition Panciera and Oldfield were fourth and fifth respectively in the 800 with times of 2:25.80 and 2:30.23.
Panciera added a fourth-place finish in the 1,500 at 4:59.87.Panciera and Oldfield helped USM tally 158 points for the LEC crown, two ahead of runner-up Keene (N.H.) State and the four other teams.
