Track and field results
Greenville boys track finished ninth out of 11 teams at Hampden Academy on April 19. Senior Cody Watson won the 400 in a time of 54.37 seconds. Junior Matt DiAngelo came in fifth in the long jump, at 18 feet, 1 inch, and he was sixth in the 200 at 24.93 seconds.
The Greenville girls placed eighth out of 10 schools. Senior Tricia Sherman won the shot put at 27-08, while sophomore Andrea Gurney had the day’s best throw in the discus at 83-00. In the javelin, freshman Brooke Noyes was fifth at 76-08.
At Brewer on April 20 the Penquis boys tallied 22.50 points to place sixth out of 10 teams. Senior Cody Herbest came in third in the 100 and fourth in the 200 at 12.11 and 25.44 seconds respectively. He also was fifth in the discus at 99-04.
Senior George Cowing also scored in three events for Penquis. Cowing was fourth in the 400 at 59.69 seconds, was fourth in the long jump at 18-10.75 and he tied for fifth in the high jump at 5-02. Senior Zachary Slagle got on the scoring sheet with his sixth-place finish in the discus, at a distance of 92-07.
Senior Ben Maines tallied all 16 points for PCHS as the team came in eighth at the Brewer meet. Maines had the day’s fastest time in the 300 hurdles at 45.44 seconds. He added a third-place finish in the 110 hurdles at 17.08 seconds.
In the girls’ meet PCHS finished fourth of nine teams with 42 points. Sophomore Miriah Pettit was second in the 100 at 13.76 seconds and she came in third in the 200 at 28.55 seconds. She anchored the fifth-place 4×100 relay team as junior Tiia Kand, freshman Mikayla Dow, sophomore Mariah Priest and Pettit combined for a time of 59.05 seconds.
Senior Briana Worster was the runner-up in the high jump at 4-06, and sophomore Olivia Dow came in fifth at 4-02. Junior Shawna Burgess placed second in the javelin, 79-02, and she was third in the discus at 67-00.
The Penquis girls came in sixth at the Brewer meet with a score of 17 points. Junior Jessica Preble finished third in the 400 at 1:10.86, and she was fourth in the long jump at 14-01.50. Junior Courtney Bowers placed third in the high jump at 4-06, and freshman Zoe Berry came in sixth in the event at 4-02.
At Cameron Stadium in Bangor on April 20, the Foxcroft boys were second out of eight teams with the Ponies’ 89.50 points trailing only the 149 accumulated by Class A Bangor. Donald Boyer led Foxcroft with four first-place finishes. Boyer won both the 100 and 200, at 11.66 and 23.77 seconds respectively, and he swept the two hurdle events. Boyer’s winning time in the 110 hurdles was 15.39 seconds, and he came in first in the 300 hurdles at 42.44 seconds.
Peter Boyer had the day’s best throw in the javelin at 153-08. The younger Boyer also was fourth in the shot put at 40-11 and he ran the first leg of the fifth-place 4×400 relay. Joining Boyer was Jacob LaBree, Jeremiah McLeod and Sebastian Zepeda for a time of 4:03.71.
LaBree came in second in the 100 at 12.27 seconds and he was fourth in the 200 at 25.58 seconds. McLeod finished third in the high jump at 5-06 and he was fifth in the long jump at 15-06. Cody Levensalor placed third in the shot put at 42-01.50 and he was fifth in the javelin at 113-08.
Cooper Nelson and Paul Birtwistle finished five, six in the 3,200 at 12:28.85 and 13:31.47 respectively. The two were also fifth and sixth in the 1,600 racewalk at 11:12.43 and 11:19.15.
The boys from Dexter tied John Bapst of Bangor for seventh place with 35 points. Richard Ryckmen had the day’s best time in the racewalk at 8:34.44. Conrad Tarr came in second in the high jump at 5-08 and Michael Poulin was the runner-up in the javelin at 139-08.
In the 400 Seth Blais came in third at 57.25 seconds. Torin Smith was sixth in the triple jump at 33-00, as was the 4×400 relay as Tarr, Bryce Sweet, Poulin and Joseph Hubbell combined for a time of 4:27.49.
Girls’ scores were not available but several athletes from Foxcroft and Dexter placed in the top six. Foxcroft’s Fern Morrison came in second in the 300 hurdles at 53.76 seconds and she was fifth in the 200 and sixth in the 100 at 29.59 and 14.33 seconds respectively. Abigail McLeod finished sixth in the high jump at 4-02.
Meredith Roderka of Dexter placed second in the 800 at 2:40.07. She also was fifth in the 3,200 at 15:25.82.
The Tiger 4×100 relay, comprised of Katie Batron, Shayna Fogg, Justice Mower and Alison Pease, was third at 58.45 seconds. Pease added a fourth-place finish in the 100, 14.23 seconds, and sixth-place run in the 200 at 29.96 seconds.
