Garland Days 2016

GARLAND — The theme for Garland Days 2016 is “Making a Splash” and Garland Grange is certainly doing just that. The family fair runs from Sept. 8-11 with many activities.

On Thursday, Sept. 8 Garland Grange hosts the pie contest. Pies need to arrive for judging by 6 p.m. and the categories are apple, fruit, cream, other and kids. Judging starts at 6 but results will not be available until after 8 depending on the number of entries. All entrants are asked to leave their pies and check back later to ensure impartiality. Results and ribbons will be available the following day at the pie and ice cream social.

Friday, Sept. 9 Garland Grange will serve barbeque chicken and beef supper from 5-7 p.m. featuring barbeque sauce from Albie’s of Maine.

Saturday, Sept. 10 the Garland Grange serves a baked bean supper from 5-7 p.m. The all-you-can-eat meal includes beans, hot dogs, macaroni and cheese, homemade bread and desserts. After the supper will be a family contra dance from 7-9 p.m. upstairs at the Grange Hall.with caller John McIntire and music by Reel People Band.

Sunday, Sept. 11 Garland Grange will serve breakfast from 7-10 am including eggs to order, sausage, bacon, home fries and more. From noon to 3 p.m. Garland Grange will host American Legion Beano, serving lunch items.
