Miss Maple trio crowned at Fair

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Three girls will reign as Miss Maple in their respective age groups for the next year after being crowned during the second annual Bob’s Sugar House Miss Maple Pageant on Aug. 27 at the Piscataquis Valley Fair.

THERE SHE IS, MISS MAPLE Twelve girls took part in the 2016 Bob’s Sugar House Miss Maple Pageant on Saturday morning at the Piscataquis Valley Fair in Dover-Foxcroft. The pageant contestants competed in three different age groups, introducing themselves to the audience in country and agricultural wear, demonstrating a talent and finishing in their formal/dress-up attire.

 

Nine-year-old Madisyn Niles of Benton earned top honors in the grade 1-4 “Mini Miss Maple” division, her sister Haylei Niles, 12, was the winner in the middle school “Little Miss Maple” division and finishing first among high-schoolers for the title of “Miss Maple” was Kourtnee Haley, 17, of Monson. Rhylee Watman, 6, of Dexter was Mini Miss Maple runner-up and Hannah Bradley, 12, of Dexter, finished in second place among Little Miss Maple girls.

The Niles sisters each received a crown and sash and $50, while Watman and Bradley were both presented with a check for $25. As the high school Miss Maple winner, Haley earned a $100 scholarship.

The 2016 edition of the pageant featured 12 girls taking part, eight in grades 1-4 , three for grades 5-8 and one in the Miss Maple division. The dozen pageant participants introduced themselves to the audience gathered by the fair stage while dressed in their country/agricultural wear.

Next up was the talent portion as the girls’ skills included singing “Let It Go” from the movie “Frozen”, dancing the “Macarena”, hula hooping and playing the guitar.

Miss Maple Pageant contestants were Mini Miss Maple: Kaydance Benson, 6 of Dover-Foxcroft; Angel Case, 7 of Dover-Foxcroft; Kendall Killam, 6 on Monson; Makayla Leigh, 5 of Sebec; Madisyn Niles, 9 of Benton; LaRae Richards, 7 of Glenburn; Autumn Rideout, 5 of Charleston; and Rhylee Watman, 6 of Dexter.

Little Miss Maple: Hannah Bradley, 12, of Dexter; Akira Bruyette, 10 of Dover-Foxcroft; and Haylei Niles, 12 of Benton.

Miss Maple: Kourtnee Haley, 17, of Monson.
