Community sing-alongs at Sebec Lake

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Lee McKusick and wife Barbara will be back at Sebec Lake this month, and McKusick will lead two community sing-alongs on Aug. 17 and 24 at 7:30 p.m. — just as he did over six decades ago. Wednesday night sings around a bonfire at the beach became a summer tradition in those days when McKusick was a college student and headed the Dover-Foxcroft Kiwanis summer swim program at the municipal beach.

McKusick re-started the sings three years ago, this time located on the Smith Family property near the site of the old White Boat House and the former Tea Room. To get to the sings, simply park in the public lot at the town boat launch at Greeley’s Landing (not far from the big green roller rink.)  From there, follow the sign and take the short path along the shore to Paul Smith’s bonfire. Bring a folding chair and flashlight. For more information, call Mary at 564-2994 or email mga@tdstelme.net.
