Sen. Davis helps constituents reclaim nearly $175,000

PO DAVISNCSL050615 15069863With the assistance of Sen. Paul Davis (R-Sangerville) the citizens of Senate District 4 recouped nearly $175,000 worth of property from the state of Maine.

“It is only right to help Mainers regain property that is theirs,” Sen. Davis said. “Over the course of people’s lives, there are many times they may be unaware of property or assets that are rightfully theirs. I was pleased to be able to help so many local citizens recover their property, and hope that what was recovered is helpful to them and their families.”

Unclaimed property consists of money or other personal assets that are considered lost or abandoned when an owner cannot be located for a specific amount of time. Unclaimed property includes, but is not limited to: checking and saving accounts, certificates of deposit, over payments, gift certificate, unpaid wages, stocks and contents of safety deposit boxes.

Mainers can still search to see if they or family members have unclaimed property. Those interested in inquiring if they are on the Unclaimed Property List can go to https://www.maine.gov/treasurer/unclaimed_property/online/, or contact the Treasurer’s Office at 624-7470.
