MILO — A teenager died Sunday and two others were injured in a single-vehicle crash on Lakeview Road, according to the town’s police chief.

The crash occurred around 1 p.m., when a vehicle carrying the three teens left the road and struck a tree, according to Milo Police Chief Damien Pickel.

The deceased teen, a 17-year-old boy, was riding in the back seat at the time of the crash, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, Pickel said. The other two were taken to Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft for minor injuries and later discharged.

Pickel said all three were wearing seat belts, and police were looking at speed as a potential factor in the crash.

A Maine State Police reconstruction team assisted Milo police. The crash remains under investigation.
