Maine Conservation Voters Action Fund endorses Reps. Higgins and Stearns
AUGUSTA — Maine Conservation Voters Action Fund (MCVAF) recently announced its endorsement of Reps. Norman Higgins (R-Dover-Foxcroft) and Paul Stearns (R-Guilford), incumbent candidates for House Districts in Piscataquis County.
District 120, represented by Higgins, contains Atkinson, Brownville, Dover-Foxcroft, Medford, Milo, Lake View and Orneville Township. District 119, represented by Stearns, includes Abbot, Beaver Cove, Bowerbank, Greenville, Guilford, Monson, Parkman, Sangerville, Sebec, Shirley, Willimantic, Blanchard Township, Northeast and Northwest Piscataquis.
“Rep. Higgins demonstrated significant leadership as a freshman member of the Energy, Utilities and Technology Committee in crafting solar legislation and fostering bipartisan support for it,” notes Beth Ahearn, MCVAF political director. Both Higgins and Stearns supported the Land for Maine’s Future program and effective management of Maine’s public lands. They also voted against weak mining rules that could have harmed water quality. These representatives have a record of being conservation proponents.”
“At Maine Conservation Voters Action Fund, we work to elect conservationists who will protect our natural resources once they are in office,” Ahearn said. “Who we elect matters — particularly at the state level, where we have the opportunity to advance policies that support our outdoor heritage and protect our air, water and public health.”
