PVC JV track championships

BREWER — Renee Smith of Foxcroft Academy won the girls shot put at the Penobscot Valley Conference Junior Varsity Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 25 at the Brewer Community School. Smith finished in first place with a throw of 25 feet, 10.5 inches.

Emily Sprecher of Foxcroft was fourth in the shot at a distance of 23-03.75. Sprecher also came in 10th in the javelin at 57-11.

Foxcroft’s Jacalyn Pelletier finished fifth in the 200 with a time of 32.93 seconds.

Denali Smith of Penquis Valley High School came in sixth in the 100 at 15.41 seconds.

The Patriots’ Kelsey Robinson placed sixth in the long jump at 12-07.75.

Brianda Guevara of Piscataquis Community High School finished eighth in the javelin with a throw of exactly 62 feet.

In the boys’ competition, Dakota Knowlton of Penquis came in second in the 200 with a time of 26.16 seconds. He also was third in the 100 at 12.80 seconds.

Dustin Simmons of Foxcroft finished sixth in the 100 with a time of 13.02 seconds. Simmons placed ninth in the long jump with a distance of 15-08.50.

Rounding out the region’s athletes placing in the top 10 was Hunter Giacomuzzi of Foxcroft in the 3,200. Giacomuzzi came in seventh in distance run at 13:10.16.
