Historical Society to learn about Foxcroft’s Bernie Madoff

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Dover-Foxcroft Historical Society will be holding its annual meeting on Wednesday, June 1 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Gerrish-Warren Room at Thayer Parkway on Park Street.

Dennis Lyford will be sharing the story of the town’s Bernie Madoff. Judge Elias Hale, the treasurer of Foxcroft for 38 years, had taken 10 times the town’s annual budget or 20 percent of the value of the town over that time. Find out about Judge Hale’s life and how the town bounced back after this devastating loss. The meeting is open to the public.
