Rape Response Services offering support group

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Anyone affected by sexual assault or stalking is invited to a six-week support group on Mondays beginning April 25 from 1-3 p.m. at Penquis, 50 North Street. For more information or to register please contact Lisa Kingsbury at 974-2478 or lkingsbury@penquis.org.

The purpose of the support group is to provide a safe environment for mutual support, education and understanding. The goal of this group is to assist in the healing process of victims/survivors. The group aims to help members develop personal skills for dealing with the effects of any type of sexual violence including childhood sexual abuse.

Within this support group, participants will explore their experiences and the ways in which society views sexual violence. Together they will search for how these experiences and society’s views have affected group members and how group members can help each other to heal. The information discussed is confidential and for the comfort and building of relationships no new members will be joining after the second meeting.

The mission of Rape Response Services is to offer hope, support, and advocacy to victims and people affected by sexual assault and stalking, to provide education about sexual violence and to promote prevention.
