Will’s Shop ‘n Save namesake earns vet-owned small business honor

PO WEDGEMUG 12 16 17274534DOVER-FOXCROFT — The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced its annual award winners and William K. Wedge, president of Will’s Shop ‘n Save, was named Veteran Owned Small Business of the Year for Maine and New England. This award is presented to a veteran who serves as the majority owner of a small business with at least a three-year track record.

“Mr. Wedge is a remarkable person,” said Marilyn Geroux, SBA district director for Maine. “He has served our country with distinction in the U.S. Air Force, and has used many of the skills he learned in the military to successfully manage his own small business.”

Wedge was nominated by James Macomber of MaineStream Finance, and has received financial support from the SBA through loan guarantees with Camden National Bank. Wedge will be honored at an SBA reception on May 4 at the Augusta Civic Center.
