Foxcroft’s Ayala named to regional all-star team

BANGOR — Senior midfielder Antonio Ayala of Foxcroft Academy was recognized Sunday as part of the boys Northern Maine state soccer all-star team during the 42nd Maine Soccer Coaches Association all-star banquet.

Ayala, who led Foxcroft to an 11-4-1 record and a berth in the Class B North quarterfinals, also was one of four Ponies selected to the Northern Maine Class B regional all-star team, along with junior goalie Logan Butera, senior back Nate Church and sophomore forward Tobias Hogfeldt.

Other area players honored during the banquet were junior back Clayton Preble of Penquis Valley of Milo and sophomore forward Bryce Gilbert of Piscataquis of Guilford, Class C North boys all-stars; sophomore goalkeeper Evan Bjork, sophomore back Connor DiAngelo and sophomore forward Noah Pratt, all of Greenville; Class D South boys all-stars; senior midfielder Skyler Theodore of Dexter; Class C North girls all-stars; and senior forward Shelby Ward and sophomore back Charlotte Aucoin of Greenville, Class D South girls all-stars.

Named 2015 NSCAA All-Americans from Maine were Opal Curless, a senior midfielder from Mount Desert Island of Bar Harbor, and senior forward Abdi Shariff of Lewiston.
