BOOKS IN MEMORY

Zander Grant, left, and Anthony Germano, library helpers at PCES in Guilford, show off the new books added to the elementary school library collection. The books were purchased in memory of Rebecca N. Johnston. Johnston was a 1965 PCHS graduate and went on to be an educator. She worked as a teacher for 36 years and then did long-term subbing and became a foster grandparent.

In her obituary last October; donations to the PCES library were requested in lieu of flowers. The two series “We Both Read” and “You Choose” were chosen in Johnston’s name because of her deep love of reading and her desire for children to learn to read and enjoy reading. Each book has a donation plate.
