PIHS Invitational: FA boys X-C finishes third

PRESQUE ISLE — The Foxcroft Academy boys cross country team ran to a third-place finish at the Presque Isle High School Invitational on Sept. 12 at the University of Maine-Presque Isle. The Ponies tallied 88 points to place third out of eight teams.

Gabe Piquette led Foxcroft by finishing eighth in a field of 58 runners. Piquette covered the five kilometers in a time of 19 minutes, 27.87 seconds.

Next for Foxcroft was Cooper Nelson, who placed 11th with a time of 20:07.40. Paul Birtwistle followed in 24th place at 21:09.59. Liam Casey was 27th at 21:17.69 and concluding the Pony point-scorers was Nicholas Daneman with a 33rd place finish and a time of 21:43.32.

Ethan Poland and Kazu Kawashima were 44th and 45th with respective times of 23:32.40 and 23:34.29.

The Foxcroft girls earned a score of 135 points to place fifth in a field of nine schools.

Jen Clawson had her team’s best run, as she placed ninth out of 60 with a time of 23:19.36.

Jenna Clukey finished 24th at 24:43.85, and next was Alice Russo who was 34th at 26:42.83. Erika Chadbourne placed 40th with a time of 27:48.90 and rounding out the point-scorers for Foxcroft was Virginia Macomber in 42nd place at 28:54.02.

Sujeong Kim ran for the Ponies, placing 43rd with a time of 28:57.97.
