Verizon Wireless presented a $10,000 donation to the Spruce Run-Womancare Alliance, a nonprofit agency serving Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties. The alliance is dedicated to providing safety planning, advocacy and support to individuals affected by domestic abuse, as well as prevention, education and training to foster safe, healthy relationships.

This contribution, through Verizon’s HopeLine phone recycling program, will help strengthen the Spruce Run-Womancare Alliance’s legal services offered to survivors of domestic violence. The check was presented at the Verizon Wireless Store on Stillwater Avenue in Bangor. From left is Rhonda Gopan, general manager for Verizon Wireless; Amanda Cost, community response program director for the Spruce Run-Womancare Alliance; Julie LaVertue, director of customer service for the Verizon Wireless Bangor Call Center; and Michael Murphy, PR manager for Verizon Wireless New England.
