USDA Rural Development invests in Dexter

DEXTER — USDA Rural Development State Director Virginia Manuel has announced an investment of $815,700 for five projects across Maine that will provide important benefits in Maine’s rural communities, including for the Dexter Utility District.

The Dexter Utility District has been selected to receive a total of $225,000 through a water and waste direct loan of $130,000 and water and waste grant of $95,000 for upgrades to the water distribution system. This will be done by replacing old antiquated and undersized water mains.  The replacement of these mains will improve flow and reliability of the system.

“This funding will invest in vital community infrastructure,” Manuel said. “Funds will help the communities of Dexter, Limestone and Danforth to be sustainable through planning for future water system needs.”
