Third annual concussion seminar Aug. 12

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Please join the Mayo Regional Hospital Concussion Clinic, along with staff members from Foxcroft Academy, for an evening of presentations and discussion on concussions next Wednesday, Aug. 12 at the Center Theatre. From the science of concussions, on-field assessment, emergency treatment, rehabilitation and return to normal activity, the landscape of concussion science has continued to evolve since last year’s seminar. Furthermore, the clinic will share emerging information on non-athletic sources of concussions and pathways for treatment, including domestic violence, motor vehicle accidents, elderly/dementia patients and more.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for this free event, with presentations running from 6-8 with time until 8:30 p.m. for a questions and discussion panel. Parents, coaches, referees, teachers, administrators, and medical practitioners are strongly encouraged to attend, as are those involved in the identification of and care for victims of domestic violence and elderly/dementia patients. Certificates of attendance will be available for documentation of training in concussion management.
