Patients can celebrate losing their marbles

DEXTER — Over the last few months some patients at the Reddy Health Center have been losing both their marbles and some weight in a challenge involving one marble being dropped into a men’s or women’s jar for every pound lost.

From July 27-31 Reddy Health Center is planning a week-long celebration for reaching the 300-pound milestone. The event will feature giveaways, drawings and more as any patient who is participating in the “losing of our marbles” is encouraged to come in and celebrate with health center officials.

In May and June patients dropped 233 marbles into jars, with the women having a 40-point advantage over their male counterparts. Convincing people to take off pounds, even for their own good, is a challenge for medical professionals. Office Coordinator Margaret Towle and Secretary Karen Buzzell came up with a fun method to help patients lost weight, all starting with a $2 bag of marbles.
