COMMISSIONED — Troy V. Violette of Wellington was commissioned as an ensign in the U.S. Navy last month. Pictured pinning on his insignia are his father, Col. (Ret.) Paul E. Violette and his mother, Charlotte.

TROY, N.Y. — Troy V. Violette of Wellington graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on May 30 with a Bachelor of Science degree in nuclear engineering. He is a graduate of Piscataquis Community High School.

He was also commissioned as an ensign in the U.S. Navy on May 29 as his father Col. (Ret.) Paul E. Violette administered the oath. Col. Violette and his wife, Charlotte E. Violette, pinned the new ensign’s insignia on their son during the ceremony.

Violette is attached to the Navy ROTC unit at RPI until he goes to Navy Nuclear Propulsion School in October in Charleston, S.C. He also passed his Navy technical and admiral’s interviews and has been accepted into the highly-competitive Navy nuclear submarine program.
