70 YEARS WITH THE AMERICAN LEGION — Thomas Howard of Milo, a 70-year member of Joseph P Chaisson Post 41 of Milo received a 70-year certificate signed by National Commander Michael Helm of Nebraska and National Adjutant Daniel S. Wheeler. Post Commander Daniel Nutter Sr., right with Howard, presented the award during a joint Post dinner on May 6. Howard served during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corp as a non-commissioned officer as a pilot of first a P-40 Hawk Fighter and later as a bomber pilot for the 2nd Bombardment Group Twelfth Air Force in North Africa and eventually becoming a part of the Fifteenth Air Force flying out of Amendola, Italy with mission into Germany. The town Of Milo is very proud of this World War II hero and the American Legion looks forward to his yearly participation in the Memorial Day parade where once was honored as the parade marshal.
