Carroll selected for Outward Bound Leadership Award

lo-carrollmug-dcX-po-12    DOVER-FOXCROFT — Foxcroft Academy junior Avery Carroll has been selected as the recipient of the 2015 Outward Bound Leadership Award, which provides the course tuition for a 14-22 day Outward Bound Wilderness expedition. This is the 14th year that Foxcroft Academy has presented the award to a student in the junior class based on an application essay, leadership abilities, and a commitment to community service. The last three recipients were Clay Carroll (2014), Mia Smith (2013) and Gabi Henderson (2012).

Carroll maintains a 3.96 GPA while also serving as the vice president of Key Club (president-elect for next year) and starring for the field hockey, swimming and softball teams. She captains both the softball and swimming teams and set the school record in the 100-yard backstroke at the Class B state championships earlier this winter.
“Our selection committee was very impressed with Avery’s service and leadership record, and her application essay was outstanding,” said Head of School Arnold Shorey, who noted that this year’s crop of applicants was particularly strong. “We know she’ll make the most of this opportunity.”
