American-Flag-ColorPO-AlbertAshfordOBDOVER-FOXCROFT – Albert “Ace” Ashford, 68, passed away March 22, 2015, at his home, after a battle with lung cancer.
    Ace was born September 6, 1946, in Bangor. He served 12 years in the U.S. Navy and ten years in the U.S. Coast Guard. After retiring, he worked as a welder of Dover Stove Company in Sangerville, as a welding instructor at Charleston Correctional Facility in Charleston, and at Bangor Welding as a welder.
    Ace loved working with wood and with stained glass. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
    Ace is survived by his wife of 45 years, Violet (Simpson) Ashford of Dover-Foxcroft; his children, Craig Ashford of Dover-Foxcroft and Florida, and Cathy Ashford of Guilford; two grandchildren, Melissa Mackie of Guilford, and Kyle Mackie of Limerick; two sisters, Gloria Jacques and Hope McMillan, both of Arizona; two brothers, Tom Ashford and Irving Sherman, both of Maine. He will be remembered by his long-time friend, Gary Allard of Maine.
    He was predeceased by his mother, Myrtle Sherman.
