Miles earns national field hockey academic accolade

sp-milesmug-dcX-po-2    COLCHESTER, Vt. — A nation-leading 22 members of the St. Michael’s College field hockey team qualified for the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Collegiate Div. II National Academic Squad for this past fall, while the Purple Knights earned an NFHCA Collegiate National Academic Team Award for the 11th consecutive year. Among the honorees is Monica Miles of Dover-Foxcroft, a 2013 Foxcroft Academy graduate, who drew the honor for the second time.

    With 22 of the 29 student-athletes on its roster being honored, St. Michael’s led all Div. II schools in National Academic Squad qualifiers. The Purple Knights are among 25 programs to draw the team accolade. The National Academic Squad recognizes student-athletes that have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 through the first semester of the 2014-15 academic year, while the team award recognizes programs that achieved a minimum 3.0 GPA during the first semester.
    Miles is majoring in biochemistry (pre-med), and she is the daughter of Dr. Ronald Miles Jr. and Katie Miles.
