Mayo cardiologist to accept position at Central Maine Medical Center
DOVER-FOXCROFT — Mayo Regional Hospital announced that cardiologist Dr. Kathleen Harper has tendered her resignation effective May 4.
Dr. Harper has accepted a position in Lewiston at Central Maine Medical Center and is excited to work with cardiology colleagues at Central Maine Heart Associates. “Dr. Harper was well received by patients and we appreciate the contribution she has made to our hospital and our community,’’ said Marie Vienneau, Mayo Regional Hospital President & CEO. “We recognize this is an opportunity for her professional growth with the support of a larger practice of cardiology and we wish her the very best.”
Mayo will continue its referral arrangements with Northeast Cardiology Associates and seek to grow additional referral relationships with St. Joseph Cardiology, both based in Bangor, to provide local cardiology clinics and expand the use of telemedicine practice for local cardiology patients.
Current patients that have an appointment with Dr. Harper scheduled after April 24 should call their primary care provider to arrange a referral to another cardiologist. Mayo Cardiology will help with any questions and can be reached at 564-1234.
Mayo Regional Hospital is a 25 bed, non-profit, critical access hospital providing advanced medical services to more than 26,000 residents in the Piscataquis and adjacent Penobscot and Somerset counties.
