    ORONO — The Foxcroft Academy boys’ indoor track team had its highest finish of the young season by placing third out of seven teams, with a score of 64 points, during an Eastern Maine Indoor Track League meet on Jan. 17 at the University of Maine.

    In the shot put, senior Peter Boyer had the meet’s top throw. Boyer threw the implement 43 feet, to take first-place honors by over four inches. Boyer also tied for third in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5-02.
    The Foxcroft 4×800 relay team won by over 16 seconds. Senior Noah Simpson, junior Gabe Piquette, senior Kelly Erickson and junior Paul Birtwistle combined for a time of 9 minutes, 42.73 seconds.
    The four relay members also placed in individual events. Birtwistle finished third in the 800 at 2:25.26 and fourth in the two-mile was Piquette with a time of 11:55.08. Erickson finished third in the mile at 5:27.37 and sixth in the event was Simpson at 5:32.72.
    Senior Zhe Chen came in third in the long jump with a distance of 17-07.50, and he also ran the third leg of the third-place 4×200 relay squad. Senior Julian Zepeda, junior James Smith, Chen and senior Justin Diamond combined for a time of 1:45.91.
    Also placing for the Ponies was senior Dylan Richards and sophomore Jason Eubanks, fourth and sixth in the 55 at 7.16 and 7.35 seconds respectively; Diamond, fourth in the 200 at 25.28 seconds; and Zepeda, sixth in the 400 at 56.53 seconds.
    In the girls’ meet, Foxcroft tallied 24 points to finish sixth out of seven teams.
    Senior Fern Morrison was the meet’s winner in the 800. Morrison ran a time of 2:32.90 to win by over 6.5 seconds. She also came in second in the 400 at 1:04.40.
    Freshman Virginia Macomber placed fourth in the mile with a time of 7:28.03. Coming in fifth in the shot put at a distance of 26-03.50 was junior Desirae Brawn.
