Milo Garden Club Summer Fair and Plant Sale blooms Aug. 1
MILO — Thursday, Aug. 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Milo Garden Club will host its annual Summer Fair and Plant Sale at the Kiwanis campus. As a prelude to perennials, posies and produce, raffle tickets have been printed and are presently for sale. Once again, generous businesses, community and garden club members have provided items perfect for the home and garden.
Three Rivers Feed owner Mike Comeau has gathered garden products for the raffle. Barbara Reed has donated a wood bird feeder and a hummingbird feeder. In keeping with the theme, Joanne DeWitt has provided a lovely framed work of art featuring hummingbirds. An anonymous donor has provided a candle holder figurine and for those people who love fairies, Ethelyn Treworgy has created a fairy garden for the raffle.
Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5 and are also available the day of the fair. The drawing will be held at 1 p.m. on Aug. 1. Proceeds from the raffle benefit town plantings, scouting, campership program, PAWS, Outing Club, Secret Santa, BearCats, and many other charities.
But the raffle is not the only feature of the summer fair and plant sale. Often the abundance of annuals and perennials in varying heights and stages of growth, gives the impression one is walking into an overflowing greenhouse houseplants, produce, and preserves are evidence of garden club and community member’s talents. This is also apparent in the quality of art and crafts for sale or up for bid at the silent auction. Jigsaw puzzles and books are also available for purchase to help you while away relaxing summer hours. Don’t forget to pick up a few baked goodies for family, friends, or as a special treat for yourself.
Look forward to all of this and a lovely luncheon, too on Thursday, Aug. 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Three Rivers Kiwanis, 15 Harris Pond Road off Park Street in Milo. For more information, please call 207-943-2400.
