Indoor track results

    ORONO — The Foxcroft Academy boys indoor track team finished sixth out of seven schools at an Eastern Maine Indoor Track League meet on Jan. 3 at the University of Maine, scoring 24 points with juniors Cooper Nelson and Gabe Piquette having a hand in all of the points.

    Nelson was the meet’s first-place finisher in the mile. Nelson ran a time of 4 minutes, 46.96 seconds to win by about 2.5 seconds. He also was third in the 800 at 2:17.46. Piquette came in fourth in the two-mile race with a time of 12:12.99.
    The Foxcroft 4×800 relay team ran to a fourth-place finish. Juniors Paul Birtwistle, Kohei Kotani, sophomore Taylor Smith and Piquette combined for a time of 10:00.05.
    In the girls’ meet, Foxcroft was seventh of seven teams with 10 points.
    Junior Desirae Brawn came in third in the shot put with a throw of 27 feet, 6.5 inches. Freshman Virginia Macomber was fourth at two miles with a time of 16:21.59.
