PCHS’ Goulette wins shot put at PVC meet

OLD TOWN — The Piscataquis Community High School outdoor track team concluded the regular season with a Penobscot Valley Conference meet at Old Town High School on May 18. The Pirate girls scored 49 points to place fifth among eight point-scoring teams.

Ava Goulette won the shot put as her throw of 35 feet, 7.75 inches was the best of the competition. Goulette came in first by 7.75 inches over runner-up Grace Lewis of the Bangor Christian School.

PCHS’ Jazmin Channon placed second in three different individual events. Channon was second in the 100 and 200 meters with respective times of 13.55 and 28.36 seconds. She also finished second in the long jump at 15-01.50.

Sadie Kelly had the second-best time in the 1,600 racewalk at 9:18.02.

Molly Goodwin placed third in the javelin with her throw measuring 83 feet. Olivia Goodwin came in sixth in the event at 78-05.

The Pirate boys finished with a score of eight points to place seventh among eight schools.

Chase Kilian came in fourth in the 300 hurdles at 52.72 seconds.

Parker Kelley was fifth in the javelin at 117-03, and Timothy Macneil was fifth in the shot put at 33-04.50.
