Both Dexter teams have fourth-place performances

BAR HARBOR — The Dexter Regional High School boys track team came in fourth place at the Penobscot Valley Conference meet at Mount Desert Island High School on Saturday, April 27. The Tigers scored 63.25 points to place fourth among a field of six teams.

The Tigers’ Brady Jerome won the shot put with his throw measuring 39 feet. Jerome also came in third in the discus at 103-03 and he was fifth in the javelin at 102-09.

Tristan Hopkins-Watrous had the day’s second-best time in the 110 hurdles at 19.35 seconds. He also anchored the second-place 4×100 relay as Bryce Cooper, Bodhi Langlais, Damiar Miller, and Hopkins-Watrous combined for a time of 50.09 seconds. 

Hopkins-Watrous, Cooper, and Noah Benson were part of a tie for fifth place in the high jump as all three cleared the bar at 5 feet. Hopkins-Watrous was also sixth in the 100 at 12.27 seconds.

Miller finished second in the triple jump with his distance of 38-05. He also came in third in the long jump at 18-01 and fourth in the high jump at 5-02. 

Dexter also had points in the field events from Benson, fourth in the javelin at 33-10; Cooper, fifth in the long jump at 17-01; and Corbin Young, fifth in the shot put at 31-09.

The Tiger girls were also fourth among six schools, finishing the day with 26 points.

Brookelin Dorman had a hand in all 26 points, including placing second in the 100 with her time of 14.21 seconds and second in the triple jump at 28-03.50.

Dorman anchored the third-place 4×100 squad as Maddy Lagross, Mackenzie Curtis, Addy Gudroe, and Dorman covered the lap around the track in 64.73 seconds. Dorman was also fourth in the 200 at 30.52 seconds.
