Audubon Bird Count set for Dec. 30

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The 114th Audubon Bird Count will be held in the area on Tuesday, Dec. 30. People interested in birds and nature are welcome to join in.

Those who are interested should meet at McDonald’s as near to 7 a.m. as possible where the count will organize and participants then go out for the day. Persons able to go for part of the day are welcome. Please call Charles Dorchester at 884-8322 or come to McDonald’s to join with the group. Those who have binoculars should bring them. Participants will observe and count as many species and numbers as are encountered. Many hardy kinds of birds choose to winter in the Dover-Foxcroft area.
Organizers emphasize that persons with feeders are important to the count and can report what they see during the day, on Dec. 30, to Ruth French at 564-7434. It is best to call at around 4 p.m. or after to report what has been seen.
For more information, call Dorchester at 884-8322.
A final tally of results will be published in a later edition of the Piscataquis Observer.
