Guilford students will raise their voices and lift spirits

GUILFORD — Piscataquis Community Elementary School students will demonstrate their skills as classes, groups, and individuals using their voices, instruments, and movement on two separate nights this holiday season.

Students are planning two elementary school concerts. The first concert is on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 5:30 p.m. in the PCHS gym and will feature grades K-3 showing off all the singing they have been working on in music class. Students will sing songs like “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Jolly Old Saint Nicholas”, as well as some modern winter songs.

Thursday, Dec. 7, also at 5:30 p.m., will feature grades 4-6, as well as the grade 6 band and PCES Chorus. Students will sing traditional Christmas songs, some modern rewrites, as well as a few surprises. They take great pride in their accomplishments and enjoy the support of parents and friends. This concert will be held in the PCES gym.

Both concerts will be livestreamed on the school’s YouTube channel. You can access the livestream from the SAD4.org website by clicking on the “YouTube Channel-Live Stream” button. The snow date for both concerts is Dec. 11.

These concerts represent an annual community tradition during which the community enjoys the students’ accomplishments. As they raise their voices and instruments, they genuinely lift the spirits of those who attend. Attendance is free at these concerts under the direction of Evan Viera, PCES music teacher.
