Panciera part of record relay team for Southern Maine
BOSTON — University of Southern Maine sophomore Emily Panciera, a resident of Monson and 2011 graduate of Foxcroft Academy, was part of a record-setting relay run on Feb. 23 during the 45th annual New England Interscholastic Amateur Athletic Association Championship at Boston University.
Panciera and her three teammates in the 4×400 relay combined for a time of 3 minutes, 54.05 seconds, breaking the mark of 3:58.92 set a week prior at the New England Div. III indoor track championship. USM ended up finishing 17th of the 32 4×400 squads — the meet featured schools in Div. I, II and III. Panciera also ran in the open 500, placing 29th with a time of 1:22.27.
2009 Foxcroft Academy graduate Graham Pearsall, who is a senior at Bates College, ran in the 3,000. Pearsall ended up finishing 20th out of 29 runners with a time of 8:42.21. Pearsall’s team came in ninth out of the 32 men’s squads with a score of 30.5 points, the highest amount for any of the Div. III teams at the meet.
