Foxcroft Academy musical to premiere Nov. 14

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Foxcroft Academy students will be performing the musical comedy “Bugsy Malone” in the FA gymnasium at 7 p.m. on the evenings of Friday, Nov. 14, and Saturday, Nov. 15. “Bugsy Malone” was originally released as a British musical gangster film directed by Alan Parker in 1976. The musical is a gangster flick spoof set in Chicago and loosely based on the Prohibition era, focusing on the exploits of mobsters like Al Capone and Bugs Moran. FA’s version will feature great music and dancing, plenty of memorable characters … and splurge guns. Rumor has it that this year’s show will feature some surprise cameos from local celebrities and the Foxcroft Academy staff.

“The kids have been having a blast so far and the production is coming along nicely,” said Director Josh Guthrie, who made the decision to bring the musical back to campus last year. “We’ve again had tremendous support from FA staff, parents, community members and local businesses, especially Pleasant River Lumber, which has once again donated much of the materials needed to build our set.”
Tickets can be purchased at the door. Make sure to arrive at least a few minutes early, as last year’s shows in the gym were both close to full capacity.
