MONSON — The Monson Collaborative, a local organization whose goal is to bring vitality to downtown Monson, recently gave out over $12,000 in grant money to four local businesses and organizations. The Finnish Farmers Club, Madcap Mushrooms, Pleasant and Center catering, The Lily Cat: North Woods Antiques and Buttons, and Farm in the Woods all received grant funds up to $3,000 as voted on by over 100 members of the public during this business expo event and potluck on Saturday, May 6 in the Monson Gymnasium.
MONSON — The Monson Collaborative, a local organization whose goal is to bring vitality to downtown Monson, recently gave out over $12,000 in grant money to four local businesses and organizations. The Finnish Farmers Club, Madcap Mushrooms, Pleasant and Center catering, The Lily Cat: North Woods Antiques and Buttons, and Farm in the Woods all received grant funds up to $3,000 as voted on by over 100 members of the public during this business expo event and potluck on Saturday, May 6 in the Monson Gymnasium.
These micro grants are designed to support and promote Monson businesses and organizations. Winners will interview other winners for a spotlight on Monson’s new town website at https://www.monsonmaine.org/.
A total of 15 organizations participated in this first ever business expo and all are eligible to receive a free consultation from Coastal Enterprises, INC. CEI is a “nonprofit, 501(c)3 community development financial institution founded in 1977 with a mission to build a just, vibrant and climate-resilient future for people and communities in Maine and rural regions by integrating finance, business expertise and policy solutions in ways that make the economy work more equitably.” In addition, all participating organizations will be featured on Monson Collaborative social media sites in an effort to showcase and promote their enterprise.
The Monson Collaborative is an umbrella organization including representatives from town government, the beautification committee, library, business association, historical society, and local businesses. Our goal is to bring vitality to the downtown by supporting the needs of our community with the guiding principles of Main Street America, using the four-point approach.
