Penquis and Greenville track open season in Old Town
OLD TOWN — The outdoor track and field teams from Penquis Valley High School and Greenville High School began the 2023 season with a Penobscot Valley Conference meet at Old Town High School on Friday, April 21.
The Penquis boys scored 14 points to finish ninth among a field of 10 teams.
Andrew Legasse led the Patriots by placing third in the 200 with his time of 25.38 seconds and coming in fifth in the 100 meters in a time of 12.50 seconds.
Penquis’ Lucas Chai was fourth in the triple jump at a distance of 32 feet, 9.75 inches. Billy Sanborn added a fifth-place performance in the 1,600 at 5:41.28.
The Greenville boys came in 10th with 10 points.
Ethan Pratt placed fourth in the 800 with his time of 2:31.83. Lance Owens was fourth in the javelin with a throw measuring 102-06.
The Laker 4×100 relay came in fifth as Pratt, Devin Lauritsen, Dominick Murray, and Owens combined for a time of 51.74 seconds.
In the girls’ meet Penquis was ninth among nine point-scoring teams with one point.
Naima Ali had a sixth-place throw in the shot put at 25-10.
