FA’s Knapp to receive 2023 MPA Principal’s Award

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Abigail Knapp of Dover-Foxcroft, a senior at Foxcroft Academy, has been selected to receive the 2023 MPA Principal’s Award. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic excellence, outstanding school citizenship, and leadership.

Abby is the daughter of Roger and Angie Knapp. She has been heavily involved at FA as she’s been a member of National Honor Society, Key Club, and Student Council, in addition to other various clubs. She’s been a four-year member of the girls’ soccer, basketball, and track teams, serving as team captain during her senior year.

“Abby fits the criteria for this MPA Principal’s Award and then some,” said Arnold Shorey, Foxcroft Academy head of school. “She is a leader inside and outside the classroom. Abby is also a trusted voice in all of the clubs and organizations she is a part of, and her integrity, work ethic, and commitment to FA show through in everything she does.”

Abby and Shorey are invited to attend an Honors Luncheon with other award winners and their principals at Jeff’s Catering in Brewer on Saturday, April 1 at 12:30 pm. The Honors Luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of ten $1,000 scholarships.

The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association representing Maine’s school administrators.
