Seventeen-year-old Whitney Kain, of Abbot and a senior at Piscataquis Community Secondary School, got a bear while hunting with her grandfather David Kain, also of Abbot, on Aug. 30 — the first Saturday of the 2014 bear hunting season — in Willimantic. The female bear weighed 205 pounds dressed, and is the second bear Kain has gotten in her lifetime.
