Dover-Foxcroft

Old fashioned sing-a-long on the lake set for the evening of Aug. 20

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Anyone over 70 may remember the “sings” at Sebec Lake directed by Lee McKusick, whose family spent summers at the lake. McKusick would direct from a large rock near a blazing fire at the beach, and he would usually begin with an old favorite, “Young Folks, Old Folks”, “Everybody Come”, “Come to the Meetin’ House” and “Have a lot of fun”.

McKusick and his wife, Barbara will be coming to the lake again this year, and McKusick will be directing another “sing” beside a blazing fire. This time, the location is across from the old Tea Room, at the Greeley’s Landing end of the Shore Road South at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20. Paul Smith will be in charge of building the bonfire.
For those who enjoyed the sings of 60-plus years ago, come and sing the old favorites once again. For those who never knew the fun of singing together beside Sebec Lake by fireside, join in the tradition. Young folks, old folks, everybody come and don’t miss it. Bring along a folding chair. Questions, call 745-1713.
