Penquis Higher Education Center open house Aug. 19

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Eastern Maine Community College, in partnership with Piscataquis Valley Adult Education, will host an open house at the Penquis Higher Education Center on Tuesday, Aug. 19 from 5-7 p.m.

The center is located at the former Mayo Street School in Dover-Foxcroft and serves residents and businesses of Piscataquis and Penobscot counties. It offers online, interactive television and onsite courses leading to post-secondary certificates and degrees. A variety of onsite business and industry trainings are also available.
Piscataquis Valley Adult Education moved into the higher education center earlier this year and has already begun offering classes.
The open house is an opportunity for local residents and businesses to learn about the variety of educational and training offerings at the center, as well as the personalized services such as registration, financial aid advising, academic and career counseling, admissions testing, a full service library and a computer lab.
“The shared space and resources between EMCC and PV Adult Ed provides for personalized and high-quality education services,” said Thelma Reagan, executive director of Piscataquis Valley Adult Education. “There are a lot of great options to take advantage of, and the center really helps to expand educational access to a rural part of the state.”
The open house will also feature a complimentary barbeque and tours of the facility.
