County Democrats food collection set for March 26

Piscataquis County Democrats continue to address the needs of local families by raising money for community food pantries and delivering non-perishable food items throughout the region.

Andrea Thurlow, co-chair of the Service Committee of the Piscataquis Democrats, reports that over $3,000 has been distributed to eight food pantries throughout Piscataquis County as well as Dexter and Harmony.  With each cash donation the Democrats also deliver food and toiletries needed by local families including peanut butter, cereal and canned goods as well as household items such toilet paper, laundry detergent and dish soap.

The next collection opportunity for concerned area residents takes place on Saturday, March 26 from 10 a.m. to noon at Piscataquis County Democrats’ headquarters located at 25 North Street, Dover-Foxcroft. Items collected on the 26th will be delivered to Harmony Cares, the food pantry serving Wellington, Cambridge, and Harmony along with a cash donation.
