Guilford contractor dies in tractor rollover

Staff Report

ATKINSON — A tractor rollover accident on Range Road in Atkinson on Saturday killed a 42-year-old Guilford man and injured a woman, according to the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department.
Jason Gourley, 42, died at the scene and Bobbie Williams, 41, was flown by LifeFlight helicopter to Eastern Maine Medical Center. The incident was reported at 5:50 a.m.

Gourley was helping Richard Williams move a large tractor off a trailer that had a flat tire, according to Sheriff’s Deputy Kyle Wilson. When he attempted to move it onto a second flatbed, the tractor tipped over, went down an embankment and one of the tracks landed on Gourley, Wilson said.
Mrs. Williams went to assist Gourley and was struck by the tractor, which was upright and still in gear. The extent of her injuries were not released by EMMC.
Gourley owned and operated J. Gourley & Sons in Guilford.
A celebration life will be held Wednesday, July 2  from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Mt. Kineo Masonic Lodge in Guilford.
