Thank you U.S. Sen. Collins

To the Editor;

It was recently announced by U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, that more than $1 million in funding has been secured in the draft Fiscal Year 2022 Health and Human Services Appropriations bill to fund a mobile mammography van to service patients in Piscataquis and Somerset counties. If enacted, this funding will make a big difference for so many families. Breast cancer is a leading cause of death among American women, but if caught early, it is often treatable. Once the budget bill passes, this funding will help women in our rural area have access to the services they need to prevent, detect, and treat all forms of breast cancer.

This funding will save many lives in our rural area, and help make healthcare more accessible for our community, which is why I’d like to thank U.S. Sen. Collins for helping secure this funding in the budget bill. We’re lucky to have her looking out for the health and wellbeing of our state.
