Foxcroft softball shuts out Pirates in 2014 opener

    DOVER-FOXCROFT — At Foxcroft Academy Brittany Adkins pitched a complete game, while striking out seven batters, as the Ponies defeated Piscataquis Community High School, 7-0, on April 22. Foxcroft head coach Scott Anderson noted that the Ponies played solid defense all game, committing only one error.

    On offense leading the way was Elizabeth Richards with two hits and two RBIs. Kelsey Savage had three hits and Grace Bickford added a couple more hits. Emily Higgins and Avery Carroll both had two RBIs. Anderson said excellent base running, clutch hitting and bunting helped the Ponies to the team’s first win of the season.
