SeDoMoCha School added to CDC outbreak list

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The SeDoMoCha School has been added to the CDC outbreak list, but school operations will continue as before.

In a May 24 letter to the community posted on RSU 68 website at www.sedomocha.org, Superintendent Stacy Shorey said the addition of the school to the CDC list is due to the fact that there were three cases within a two-week period which meets the requirement of an outbreak. 

Shorey said these cases did not require closing the school and all three cases were unrelated — apparently the exposures occurred outside of the school. She said the CDC was pleased with how the SeDoMoCha school nurse handled each case. 

“Again, because there is no additional exposure, no action is needed such as having the school go into remote learning mode.,” Shorey wrote.

“I would like to thank the CDC for working diligently to assist communities in dealing with COVID-19. The CDC has been very helpful in guiding the necessary steps during these historic times. As we approach the end of the year, I would like to say how thankful RSU 68 is for the community taking all the proper precautions of wearing a mask at school, washing hands, communicating with the district about possible exposure, and maintaining physical distancing. I also know of the many sacrifices that our staff and families in our community have made this year. It is because of the entire community’s effort that we have been able to keep SeDoMoCha open for almost the entire school year! Thank you for all of your efforts and hang in there.”
