DON’T STOP FIDDLIN’ — Jesse and Greg Boardman are among the Maine Fiddle Camp acts performing a concert at the Center Theatre in Dover-Foxcroft on Saturday, April 19 at 7 p.m.
“We are very excited to welcome Maine Fiddle Camp to the Center Theatre,” says Executive Director Angela Bonacasa. “We know how difficult it is to welcome every deserving student while making enough money to keep the doors open. To help a wonderful organization that has a long history of helping so many students is a great honor.”
Maine Fiddle Camp (www.mainefiddle.org) is a multi-generational music camp located on True’s Pond in Montville. The camp teaches the traditional dance music of Maine and New England on a variety of instruments including fiddle, guitar, piano, mandolin, banjo, accordion, cello, flute and pennywhistle, mountain dulcimer, ukulele, harmonica and bass. Campers of all levels of experience, ages 5-80, learn their instruments “by ear” (no written music), and listen to and play in concerts by other campers and staff members.
Each year Maine Fiddle Camp presents performances of Camp staff members at various venues around the state. 2014 marks the 20th year of the camp, and its first performance at the Center Theatre.
Tickets can be purchased by calling the Center Theatre Box Office at 564-8943, stopping by the theatre at 20 East Main Street from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, or by going to the website at www.centertheatre.org. The Center Theatre is a non-profit performing arts center dedicated to making the arts a part of life in the Maine Highlands.
