Tirrell named to All-Maine Academic Team

    BANGOR — Christina Tirrell, of Dover-Foxcroft and a student at Eastern Maine Community College, is one of 14 Maine community college students named to the All-Maine Academic Team for two-year colleges. Tirrell and the other 13 will be honored at a ceremony on April 22 at the Maple Hill Farm Inn and Conference Center in Hallowell. The event will be hosted by the Maine Community College System Board of Trustees.

    Tirrell, 28, has  GPA of 3.7 while majoring in business management and health care secretary. Her achievements include Phi Theta Kappa member, Relay for Life Certificate of Appreciation, Marketing Principles class award, Take Back the Night Ceremony volunteer, Spruce Run home volunteer, Teddy Bear Drive volunteer and food drive volunteer.
    The All-Maine Academic Team is part of the national Phi Theta Kappa program, an international honor society for two-year colleges. Students are nominated and selected for the team by their college based on outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and service. The All-Maine Academic Team program is co-sponsored by the Bangor Daily News, Creative Awards of Scarborough, Phi Theta Kappa and the Maine Community College System.
