Proud to support Sara Gideon for U.S. Senate

To the Editor;

Candidates are always promising change and this is a time that we really need it. That’s why I’m proud to support Sara Gideon.

Sara will advocate for things that are important to me. At the top of my list is affordable, quality, healthcare for all. She will also protect people with preexisting conditions. Sara supports a plan that allows buy-in to Medicare or allows people to keep their employer-based insurance. Children can remain on their parent’s plan until age 26. That’s a good start.

Sara won’t be a rubber stamp for unqualified nominees. She’ll expect that they have actual qualifications and experience in the departments they lead.

Sara supports rolling back the massive Trump tax giveaway to the rich. She’ll help the middle class and small businesses, not huge corporations. She wants Mainers to have a better life and keep young people in Maine.

Before the coronavirus crisis Sara was out meeting the people she’ll represent. That alone is a stark change to what we’re used to.

Sara won’t be “concerned and troubled” and sit on the fence. Susan Collins said Donald Trump learned his lesson. Nothing is further from the truth. Give Sara Gideon a chance. We’re in dire need of change.
